The Lifetime Learning Credit is a nonrefundable education credit of up to $2,000 per tax return. The credit is available for an unlimited number of years during which the taxpayer is receiving post-secondary education or for classes taken to improve job skills. The taxpayer does not need to be pursuing a degree or recognized educational credential in order to receive the Lifetime Learning Credit.
