Independent Contractor

An independent contractor is a person that provides goods or services under terms specified in a contract. Independent contractors differ from employees in that an independent contractor does not work regularly for an employer but rather works as and when required to. An independent contractor usually is paid a flat fee for the job. It is common in many professions however, such as law, to pay independent contractors hourly wages.
